Book 1, Chapter 46

The silence stretched on long enough to be considered a moment of such before Ean turned to face JD. “Thanks,” E said, “But did you have to boot my dog into oblivion, too? I was about even between fondness and hate for the guy.”

“Dude,” JD protested. “I’m having a moment of silence for the demon here. Show some respect.”

For a moment, Ean gaped at JD and silence reigned. Then the fridge door rattled. “Yip!” went Fifi. “Yip yip yip!”

“AUGH!” roared the fridge. “DIE ALREADY!”

Ean and JD stared. “He’s still alive in there!” E shouted.

The door rattled again – the whole refrigerator shook. JD scrambled to his feet. “We have to do something,” he declared – and braced his shoulder against the fridge door. “Quick, E: go for weapons. I’ll hold them until you get back.”

“Right!” Ean said. He darted out of the kitchen.

“Hang in there, demon dude,” JD called through the door of the fridge. “Help is on the way.”
