Book 1, Chapter 75

Once the dishes were done, Ean insisted on starting the drive home – despite the late hour. JD reluctantly acquiesced.

“Bye, Mrs. E!” JD called from the door.

“Oh,” Ean’s mom said from the other room. “Leaving so soon?” She came into the dining room. “Well, at least take some pie with you. I can’t eat it all myself.”

Later still, as they hauled yet another box of pies into the car, JD paused to look at E. “Dude, your mom is awesome.

“Whatever,” Ean said. “Take as much as you want, but I’m not doing your dishes once we get back to the apartment.”
