Ean leaned back in his seat and sighed. “So,” he recapped, “We’re stranded on a back country road because our car stopped, but it’s not out of gas and we’ve concluded that it’s not because of the pie.” He sighed. “That only leaves one other possibility.”

JD arched an eyebrow inquisitively. He was too busy eating pie to actually ask what that possibility was.

“Aliens,” Ean told him with a straight face.

JD swallowed. “Aliens?” Then he started laughing. “Ha! Yeah, right. Good one, E.”

But Ean just grimaced and turned to look into the darkness outside the car.
