JD shrugged with one shoulder the one that wasn’t attached to the arm that was leveling a gun at her head. The laser pistol didn’t waver.
The commander’s voice shifted from disbelief to outrage. You cheated, she growled, completely ignoring the pistol. This isn’t a victory, it’s just semantics. I’ll-
But all she did was slump forward as Sakura expertly knocked her out from behind. Sakura caught the alien commander as she fell and gently eased her down to the ground.
Sakura! Ean yelped. How did you-? Where did you… He tried to think back to when he’d last seen her and hastily switched back to Japanese. <Where have you been?>
Sakura looked up at him and smiled beatifically. <Here and there. But mostly in the engine room. Planting explosives.>
Uh… said Ean.
<We should probably get to the escape pods,> Sakura added helpfully. Then she turned to Elroy. <And you should probably take care of your commander, and your ship, instead of trying to stop us,> she told the small alien. <I promise, you’ll be very busy if you don’t. And you only have an hour to take care of the secondary explosives I’ve scattered around the ship.>
Then she ran out of the command room, followed closely by Ean and JD, who jogged after them, shouting: Hey! Where are we going? I wasn’t done gloating about my victory!
