Ean stared at Fifi in surprise. “Did you just say please?

“…OR BE DESTROYED,” Fifi reiterated while glaring at Ean.

But the truth was that after a couple of days locked up with a screeching philosopher who’d lost himself in alcohol-withdrawal induced meditation, Fifi was beginning to contemplate the possibility that between the two Ean was the preferable minion.

Ean chuckled, then reached over and shook Lieutz’ shoulder, breaking the other man out of his trance.

“Hey,” Ean said. “Thanks for watching my dog. I’m going to take him back down to my apartment now.”

“You- you’re back?” Lieutz asked in a daze.

“Yeah,” Ean said.

“I…I can drink again?” Lieutz asked.

“Yeah,” Ean said again.

Lieutz thrust his arms up in triumph. “WOO-HOOOOOO…!” he cried out in joy.
