"Oh gods," Sakura whispered – and JD plucked his shades from her lap and placed them back on his face.
"What happened?" Sakura asked.
JD stared at her for a minute, his eyes safely hidden again. Then the set of his jaw softened. "I’ll tell you what," he said. "That curiosity of yours is going to get you in trouble if you stay here. So instead of asking for details, why don’t you forget all about what you’ve just seen, and I’ll make a phone call and arrange for you to be sent home."
Sakura hesitated. "I… I can’t go back to Japan," she said. "Please don’t."
JD’s eyebrows arched. "Keeping more things secret from us than your ability to understand English, huh? Well, in that case: Keep my secrets to yourself and keep out of my business – and I won’t make a phone call and have you deported."
