The Gang didn’t notice that they were being tailed by a ninja because – let’s face it – she was a ninja. And, in addition to that, they were deeply involved in their own conversation as they crossed the campus center to an unclaimed table.
"I still say we’ve got to kill him," Big said. "It’s like…a matter of professionalism, now. We let one guy stand up to us and pretty soon everybody is."
"Yeah," Little agreed, "but we tried that and it blew up in our faces – and you’ve been vetoing all of my plans since then."
Big frowned and didn’t comment on Little’s plans. Instead, he said: "I think we’ll need outside help for this one."
Little grimaced in turn. "You mean… The Family? No way! They own the whole damn city, and if we go to them for help they’ll own us too."
Big fidgeted uncomfortably. It wasn’t often that Little made a valid observation, but… "And if we let word get out that the wuss chased us off, we won’t have anything. I don’t think we’ve got any other options."
And then Sakura startled The Gang by pulling up a chair between them. "Hello, gentlemen," she said as she sat down. "Pardon my eavesdropping, but it sounds like you have a situation that could benefit from a healthy dose of ninja."
